The Berkeley extends its hospitality to sun-seekers across the land in this Med-style poolside pop-up

The Berkeley hotel in Knightsbridge will soon open its legendary rooftop – usually reserved for staying guests – to all. From the evening of 24th May, The Berkeley Rooftop Bar & Pool will introduce Capri in the City – a seasonal pop-up inspired by the island’s picturesque, cove-studded coastline. Surrounded by lemon trees and unrivalled views of London’s skyline, Capri in the City will celebrate Italy’s colourful, laid-back beach clubs with a brand-new Riviera-inspired menu of cocktails and dishes, offering Londoners the chance to live the dolce vita lifestyle in the capital.

In collaboration with Malfy Gin and devised by Bars Manager Marcello Cauda, The Berkeley will serve up a series of new Capri-inspired cocktails. Highlights include the ‘Azzurro di Capri’, a take on the traditional gin and tonic using Malfy Con Limone, Italicus, blue Curaçao and Cedrata and the ‘Capri Negroni’, a white negroni with citrus notes blending Malfy Con Limone, Bitter Bianco, dry vermouth, chamomile and fig leaf. For those hot summer nights poolside, the signature ‘Amalfi Gin Granita’ offers a revitalising mix of Malfy Con Limone, Amalfi lemon juice and sugar, complete with freshly shaved ice. Spritzes, craft beers and wines will also feature, alongside the ultimate Italian aperitif, Limoncello.
Capri in the City sees a pizza oven pop-up on the rooftop for the very first time, cooking a selection of pizzas tableside such as Lobster with marinated peppers, Parma ham with rocket and parmesan, and Artichokes with anchovies and Taggiasca olives. Generous sharing platters will also celebrate the best of Italian produce including baby tomato and basil bruschetta, Cetara anchovy fillets, Mortadella, Prosciutto and more, alongside small plates of marinated octopus and a classic Caprese salad. For a sweet treat in the sun, guests can expect a generous tiramisu for two – the ultimate Italian dessert – or Amalfi lemon sorbet served in a lemon, as it should be, complete with a refreshing drop of Limoncello on the side.
To arrive at Capri in the City, guests will be whisked up to The Berkeley rooftop by lift, discovering a sun-bathed mural by Italian artist Chiara Perano along the way, inspired by the blues of the pool and greens of the park. Once outside, staggering views of the red brick of Knightsbridge, the charming crescents of Belgravia and the vast scale of Hyde Park’s treetops await. Visitors can book a table or nab a striped lounger – cocktail in hand – to enjoy this space normally reserved exclusively for guests of The Berkeley.
Capri in the City at The Berkeley Rooftop Bar will open to all from Saturday 24th May 2025. Reservation lines are now open. Tables may be booked while sun loungers are for walk ins. The Berkeley Rooftop Bar will open Thursday to Sunday, 7:30pm to 11pm, with last sitting at 9.30pm.
